Schild Estate, Barossa Shiraz 2009
Classic Barossa characteristics are seen at their best in this fine example from the grower's Angus Brae vineyard in the Barossa's cool south. It welcomes the nose with an abundance of black pepper and cassis. The bouquet follows through on the palate, producing an enticing, complex wine. A soft tannin structure and a careful selection of American oak enhance the typically rich Barossa fruit flavours. Outstanding, 92 points Wine Spectator. Silver Medal at 2011 International Wine Challenge.
Schild Estate comprises some of the oldest vineyards in Australia, including the famous Moorooroo vineyard near Jacob’s Creek whose vines are over 160 years old. The vineyard site selection has favoured the cooler, southern end of the Barossa which enjoys a slower and longer ripening period – perfect for optimum grape flavour development. The wines made here are unmistakably Australian, rich and full of fruit, but without any over-ripeness, flabbiness or excess of alcohol.
OUT OF STOCK: available to order.
